IELTS Speaking Interview 10 March 2018 : Real Exam Questions : Model Answer

IELTS Speaking Interview 10 March 2018

We have asked a student about his speaking interview help on 10 March. We have recorded the questions asked to him. In this post we are going to cover the full test with model answer that may help you with your preparation.

Part-1

Are you student or working professional?

I am a student, pursuing a bachelor degree in mass communication, I work as a translator on weekends to gain experience and enhance my communication skills. This part time activity allows me to pay my bills and other academic expenses.

Do you meet people of different age group at your workplace?

Yes, On weekends I meet with different people from various age categories. The field of study and job offer me to mingle with people from various social and economic backgrounds as well. I interact with senior citizens, middle aged people and guys of my age group. It is really fascinating to talk and work with them.

When are the most productive throughout your day?

I am an early bird, I feel at my best from 5 am to 11 pm. I get full of beans and invest my energy to my study and work. When I wake up early in the morning I am full of energy, my heart is light and passionate about devoting myself to the works assigned to me.

What are some of the popular applications among the youth of your country?

There is hardly anything what cannot be done with the help of applications. There are many applications deployed for various purposes. Applications like, PayTM to pay every kinds of bills, BJYUS to learn various things expected to appear in competitive examinations, Hotstar to watch live streaming of cricket and other sports, Whatsapp to send and receive messages, make audio and video calls and many more apps are frequently used every day.

Why are they so popular?

Applications I have mentioned play a major role in saving time, money and energy, before the advent of such applications we had to go to stores and electricity board to pay bills and make transactions. Development of application and easy to use features allow anyone to do the necessary things, we don’t need to go to make things happen physically, we can get it done with the help of any applications.

What features do you feel should be present but is still missing in these applications?

I feel that some applications are not that easy to use, there must be a language selection in every application that is deployed to perform different kind of tasks. Security features are compromised I would want that there must be updated version of applications used to pay bills and receive the money. It often comes to hear that the hackers easily exploit the security and still the money and disturb the setting.

If you were to make an application what would you build?

If I had to build an application it would be an educational app. This would cater to the syllabus related needs of students from different streams. As a student I have to look for many books and notes to study for examinations, if there is any application which help you prepare better and find every subject and topic in a single click I think that would be good. I would name it” Eduapp”. I would like to keep it updated and user-friendly. So it can be utilized by all students.

Part-2

Speak about a motivational story someone told you.

What the story was
What it was about.
How you us the moral of story
And explain how you found the story.

Model Answer:-

Storytelling is as old as human civilization. Almost every human being under the sun has heard a story through different modes of communication. My maternal grandmother would tell us lot of stories of the kings, queens, saints and dacoits to entertain us as well as build our life on values and morals. Couple of years before one of my friend’s father told me a story that really inspired me. I was hanging around in the part and coincidentally I met with his there. We took seats in a quiet place and start the conversation. We were talking generally but it went very deep. My friend’s father told me story of Adam and Goliath. He introduced me to the story through some examples like when something bigger than us appears in our life how should we react?

In the story a young boy Adam is a shapered rears the sheep and goats of his father. He has 6 more brothers working in the army of the kind of this country, he happened to be younger than among his brothers. There starts a war between Israelites and philistines, Soul the king of isreal and Adams brothers are in the battlefield to fight philistines. In the army of philistines there is 9 feet tall, well equipped, trained and ruthless warrior named Goliath to fight any of the Israelites with him. He shouts forty days and nights to fight, he even says that if he is defeated his whole nation would be the servants of isreal ,if any of the Israelites is defeated they have to serve philistines throughout the life.  Everyone in the army of Soul is terrified and trembling to see the size of the giant warrior. Suddenly Adam comes to the battlefield to ask the well-being of his brothers and the kings. When he inquires the whole scene over there.

He says that the giant can be defeated there. After talking the permission of the king and fights Goliath and hits him a stone on the head. And Goliath falls on the face he is behead with a sword by Adam. This story teaches me that we should not be out of mind and terrified to see the size of any problem. We can overcome it.  I found this story full of motivation that I would do my best on the face of worst circumstances. I can overcome any difficult situation confidently if I am not trembling and terrified.

Moral of the story fight, don’t give up unless the fight is over.

Part-3

Why do people get inspired to listening to stories?

Stories are full of examples and inspiration which we can apply in our life. People love learning through stories. Because it is easy to understand and execute in our lives. Almost every story directly speaks to your head, heart and soul. When you have all these 3 parts of yourself together you become inspired to take any actions. People find that in stories there have been people who achieved this and they can do that as well.

What way of storytelling is better verbally of with pictures? Why?

I think content and delivery of story is more important. I do agree that pictures are very useful to convey the heart of story in easy and effective manners. In my childhood I heard story from my grandmother and teachers. In school there were many stories told with the help of pictures. The pictures are out of mind but the moral is in my heart. For children, pictures are easy to grasp. I think both ways of storytelling play a vital role to convey the message.

Tell me the role of technology in storytelling?

I am of the opinion that there is a story behind everything. Weather it is good or bad. Technology has enabled us to access the different aspects of story. You can tell your story to the world in easy and effective manners, you can use electronic board and other equipments to reach larger crowd. Earlier people would tell and heart story for entertainment and instill the values among the growing generation. But technology availed us the benefits of generating revenue as well. If you deploy technology, your story can influence people around the world.

Do people often remember the values and lesson imparted by stories?

Many times I forget what I hear from other people though it is very important to me. it is very normal that we forget the lessons and moral told in the story. There are some stories which captivate your mind and imagination their influence is so deep. We don’t forget what we learn from such stories. Even we keep sharing stories which we enjoy. And Technology has played a great part to share the story and keep in mind for longer time

What are some of the alternative ways to inspire people?

Action speaks louder than words and examples are better than preaching. We are more inspired when we see other doing things. Actions and examples tell the whole story without uttering anything. Inspiration comes from what we experience not what we only hear. We may forget a story that we have heard but we cannot forget what we have experiences or seen people doing it.  There was a guy who started planting trees in my town to foster the greenery he was alone within in a month many more people joined him. Now it is like a movement to plant trees and water them regularly. Such things are effective alternatives to encourage folks around us.

What kind of information it offers

Model Answer

I don’t deny that fact that Google knows everything. There was a time when we had to read books, meet with the people and visit offices to get information on specific topic and area. Today all this is easily available on internet. World Wide Web is a great platform that renders information to us. I visit various websites for different purposes. I visit www.desiringod.com, www.smarttalk.com, www.paybills.com and many more are there. These are very useful to me and other people as well.  The website I really appreciate is www.onlinepreparation.com it is an educational and news website. This offers us to prepare for competitive exams like Banking, Civil services and other important exams to be employed in public sector. I visit this website frequently to update myself. This website shows exam dates, offers free study material and upcoming job alerts. I have been using this website for 3 years to brush up my skills. I must say that this website is instrumental for those who seek to be employed in public sector. This is very reliable and popular all over country.
There are some of my friends who cannot access it. I visit and pass the information to them. Earlier I had very limited information about the jobs in public sectors. This site really made me aware about highly regarded jobs and positions that our government offers. I don’t think there is any other website that offers this much just in a click. I have recommended this to many students to subscribe it so they can stay updated.  This is undoubtedly my favorite website.

It is authored by Mr. Robin Sharma a renowned success couch, much sought after public speakers and prolific writer.  He has penned down about 10 books a rough guess of mine, maybe he has written more. He starts his journey to find the mystery of life, everlasting joy, passion, love and success. He arrives in India and meets with many proclaimed saints and sagas.  But he finds his true mentor on the great mountain Himalaya name Raman. He teaches him techniques, exercises and daily rituals to uplift the life of his new disciple. This is very fascinating book the techniques and rituals given mentioned in the book can transform anybody’s life. I have been reading this book for many years. It has really changes the way I looked at myself and the world around me. I have now become more positive, health conscious, determined to elevate the lives of people in my society. Whenever I feel down I pick up the book and go through it. It energies and inspires me to be at my best, wear a smile and leave the things better than I found it. The writer has beautifully and lucidly conveyed his message with the help of captivating story of the monk. I admire the author and my friend who suggested me read this great book. It has been translated in more than 70 languages. It was claimed bestseller by New You times. I am now more passionate about my life and work. I am dedicated to read more. it is worth to read book.

Playing indoor and outdoor games is one of the activities I enjoy the most. I play cricket, football and carom board very often. Cricket is the game that I love playing. It is more than a sport in my nation. People consider it a religion and Mr. Sachin Tendular is God of it.  I watched a cricket match on TV when I was ten years old; I fell in love with it. Since then I have been playing it with my friends in my locality. Almost thrice a week I play this game. The month of April is very special for cricket lover. India organizes an event Name Indian Premier League; cricketers from every corner of the world participate in this popular league. This sport is played between two teams. Each team has to have 11 playing members; they have different roles to play like batters, bowlers, wicket keepers and fielders. Cricket kit is required here in which bats, bowls, pads, gloves and wickets included. 2 field empires and one TV Empire help to make decisions. The coin is tossed in the air to weather to bowl or bad. The captain, who wins it, makes the choice to bat or bowl first.  The bowler throws the bowl to batsmen, the batsmen tries to it and goes to run. There are certain rules to be followed by both teams. This is very captivating game it is often said that cricket is the game of uncertainties. Things changes with every six bowls.
This game has 3 formats One dayer, Test and T-20. In one dayer each team has 50 overs to bat and 50 overs to bowl. Test match goes for 5 days. Each team comes to bat and bowl twice. T-20 is new advent in the arena. It has become very popular in recent time. I enjoy every point of game. It really excites me to perform at my best. I even take part in competitive cricket where we go to play for reward and award. I can bat and bowl. I am ardent fan of this game.

I have always dreamt of becoming a motivational speaker in simple words public speaker. I want to opt it as my full time career. Why I want to be a speaker. Public speaking is now a well established industry. People, who are involved in, have respect, reputation and revenue. There are many much sought after public speakers around the world earn and travel a lot. Through speaking business, society and lives are transformed. Many multination corporations invite public speakers to help their employees. A public speaker has to inspire and guide people to face the fear and embrace the reality though his speeches and activities developed by him. I have attended some seminars where renowned speakers delivered their best speeches to transform the lives of listeners. Public speaking excites since my childhood, whenever any politicians visited my town I did listen to their speeches. For some people stage fright is equal to death and some set it on the fire. I have been working on my skills I don’t miss any chance to speak publically so I can open up myself and get over my fear. Cambridge IELTS Book-7 Speaking Test-1: Model Answer, Ideas and Vocabulary

Cambridge IELTS Book-7 Speaking Test

In this post we are going to explain a full IELTS speaking test 1 from Book 7. The tests given in the Cambridge books are really very important to get ideas, understand the pattern and be able to predict the topics may be asked in the interview. It is close to impossible to be very much sure what the candidate will be asked but the candidate can make up his mind to prepare at his best.
Before you go through we will suggest the candidate must read and grasp the main ideas, vocabulary and sentences which he thinks are useful. Don’t run thought the post, try to read slow and inculcate the pattern of the test so you become competent and confident to face your interview and come off with flying colors.

Part-1

How do you usually contact your friends? Why?

There are many modes of communication I use to get in touch with my friends. I reach to them electronically and personally. If they are way from me I make contact to them with the help of cell phone, internet and so on. Many times we are to discuss something important then I go to them in person. It depends on easy and possible way to get around my friends and other relatives too.

Do you prefer to contact different people in different ways? Why?

I would here extend my thanks and appreciation to the people who make communication easy. I do contact different people in different ways. The people who are well known to me I contact them frequently by visiting, texting and making video calls. The people I don’t know well I don’t mostly visit them in person. I contact them though emails and texts. I don’t use video calls for them.

Do you find it easy to keep in contact with friends and family? Why? Why not?

Gone are the days when people would hear from their friends and family members after a long time. The letter would take months to reach and it could take even longer to get the response. Today communication has become a piece of cake. We can contact our family and friends very easily. The innovation and progression in the communication technology enable us to talk, share and heart from our near and dear in a minute. We use our mobiles and can reach to them whenever we want.

In your country, Did people in the past keep in contact in the same ways as they do today? Why? Why not?

In past people had very limited options to contact, mainly they would opt for post cards and letters. But now days Using post cards and letters is a cliché. We today like in the world which is just like a village can reach any cornet of it just by using our fingers. If our friend or any family member is in another country, we can see him through video calls, leave him a text or voice message or post in his facebook wall but in past people did not have all these advantages.

Part-2
Describe a party that you enjoyed.

You should say:-
Where it was and what it was celebrating.
Where the party was held and who went to it,
What people did during the party?
And explain what you enjoyed about the party.

Model Answer

I must say that I am not a party boy. I don’t accept more social invitations these days. I do attend parties and other functions organized by friends and relatives. Whenever I go to any such programs I love talking to people I don’t know, enjoy the food and music. Couple of months back my best friend passed his CET examination, it is an examination to get enrolled in business schools, colleges and universities.  It is highly regarded examination in our country Mr. Ajay my best friend got 3rd rank in the state so we all were very happy. My friend called me up and invited me to join party. He also asked me to call up other friends to be there. The party was being held in one of the best hotels of our hometown named” Jannat”. Our hometown is just 10 kilometers from my house and easy to reach. We all friends got here and I saw that there were many known and unknown faces. It was really a pleasing experience to see the Member of Parliament was there to congratulate him and celebrate his achievement. People were well dressed and tickled pink. There were my friend’s family members, relatives, classmates and other important people of town. In the party we enjoyed the music and food there. The song sung by one of friends and dedicated to Mr. Ajay was very special. We all put our heart, mind and soul and started dancing. I noticed that almost everyone was trying to move his body. The party was well organized we had great fun there. The celebration of our friend’s achievement took us on cloud nine. This was really special.

Part 3

Family Parties:

What are the main reasons why people organize family parties in your country?

Well, there are many factors give reasons to arrange family parties. In past people were not that busy, could get together and celebrate.  Now days we live in a highly competitive and busy world. we lack chances to celebrate together though we have unlimited resources. People organize such parties to meet their friends, relatives and other close people. It is sometimes difficult to make special to visit. Parties, festivals and carnivals are like bridges to fill this gap. One more thing I would like to mention is that throwing parties has become a trend to make match, do business or mend the broken relationships. Yes, we can build new relationship as well.

In some places people spend a lot of money on parties that celebrate special family event, is this ever true in your country? Do you think this trend is good or bad trend?

Lavishing too much on parties has become order of the days in my country. People pour lot of money on marriage, birthdays and events that bring success in any form. I believe that such trends don’t serve anything good to the society. Such example set people’s mind of showing off by spending too much. It is often shown on the television people who earn big money organize parties in hotels that charges too much. I think people should use that money for the welfare of the society. It would be an investment to make our world a better place.

Are there any differences between family parties and parties given by friends? Why do you think this is?

Family parties and parties organized by friends vary a lot. If I talk about family parties there we have to be very cultural, and decent. Even people have to mind what they wear. The parties thrown by friends are way different; we don’t have to set any dress code. We can behave frankly and dance on any tune. In family parties alcoholic drinks are not allowed.  We can enjoy that in friend’s parties.

National Celebrations:
What kinds of national celebrations do you have in your country?
Well there are many national events celebrated with shows and pumps in my county. India is very civilized country that celebrates the Independence Day, Republic day, Birthdays of freedom fighters and martyrs, great saints and scientists. Independence Day and republic days are highly regarded. On 15th august 1947 our nations was officially declared Independent from British rule.  On the Republic day we had our own constitutions as other countries has that time. People are very excited to celebrate the birthdays of freedom fighters and martyrs who laid their lives to get our nation free from the tyrant rule of Britain.

Who tend to enjoy national celebrations more young people or old people? Why?

Well, when it comes to celebrate for the nation we forget the age, gender and religion, we all come up together and celebrate Independence Day, Republic Day, Birthdays of great people played major role to build our nation. Senior people significant role to let young know the history of their country.  The flag of our nations is hoisted by the seniors who have done something for the people of our nation. I must say that senior have great impact on the national celebrations. They guide to do some social works on such occasions, plant trees and volunteer in the civil hospitals.

Why do you think some people think that national celebrations are waste of government money? Would you agree or disagree with this view? Why?

Spending money on national functions is not a waste of money it is an investment made in the country people. I don’t agree with such thought. People do spend money from their pockets to celebrate such events. It would be bad if too much money is spent. The money of government must be spent in right manners.
