Example

Age

Are you happy to be the age you are now? Why? Why not?

Some people say that age is just a number. I disagree this statement. When I think of my age I feel satisfied to a great extent. I have enjoyed my time and don’t feel backward. There are some areas in terms of technology and other advancements children have today were not in my time.

When you were a child, did you think a lot about future? Why? Why not?

My childhood has been awesome. I used to be very active and smart. I believed in my dreams and thought about my future a lot. Whenever I met with any senior person and used to think to be like him. I would imagine a lot.  I believe that the mind of child is more concerned about future.

Do you think you have changed as you have got older? Why? Why not?

Change is the rule of nature as we grow old we do change in almost every area, we have been through some positive and negative changes. I used to laugh more when I was a child now I get irritate and angry too early. My body has transformed a lot. My body weight does not complement my height. I sometime feel irritated to the changes my body has shown.

What would be different about your life in the future?

I am very concerned about my future. I want to live healthy and wealthy life. I make best use of my time to I could spend time happily in the future. My future is not going to be same. It would be better. I will be living a successful and secure life. I also want to make some difference in other life.

Describe a time when you started using a new technological device (a new computer or a phone)

You should say:
What device you started using
Why you started using this device
How easy or difficult this was to use
And explain how helpful this device was to you

Model Answer

I am not much addicted to using technology. I do use technology when I need. I got my first phone when I passed 10th standard and laptop when I secured first position in 12th standard.  Here I would talk about my experience with my first laptop. When I was enrolled in Bachelor of Business Administration the laptop was my need and my mother fulfilled it by gifting.

As I started my college and I had to make PowerPoint presentation and deliver a speech with the help of this. As we cannot carry desktop but laptop is portable device.  We don’t need to keep it connected to electricity. Laptop has a chargeable battery which can last up-to 3 hours at least. It was a perfect tool for me to help me with my study.

Initially I was not comfortable with it because I was addict to use mouse and keyboard. I would often forget the touch pad which works as mouse. I bought additional keyboard and mouse. After using couple of months I got good at using laptop and left using additional keyboard and mouse.

The laptop was a very useful device for me. It made my study and research work easy. I made my projects and presentation on laptop. I would often carry it to library and use Wi-Fi. Whenever I got tired I would play a piece of music to refresh myself.
I can say that the device has been of great use for me. It was a very necessary tool to help me with my study. I thank my mom for gifting this to me. It saved my time, energy and money as well .

Discussion topics:

Technology and Education

Example Questions

What is the best age for children to start computer lessons?

Computer education is very important to have. Because , computers are deployed in every field today. I think computer should be introduced to students after the age of ten. It is the age when children are mentally prepared to learn a new subject. It is seen that children less than the age of ten are addicted to video games. They don’t understand the other important use of computer. They fall into the trap of video games and other features of this technology. They should be well instructed.

Do you think that schools should use more technology to help students learn?

Techno-logic advancements and innovations are changing the way teachers teach and students learn. Now we can study from any teacher from our home.  I am convinced that school should use the technology to improve the experience of learning. There are many gadgets and devices which help students learn better. Smart classes, interactive board, language lab, online lectures have become possible just because of the technology. There are some schools not allowed technology in their classrooms. They must change their attitude towards it.

Do you agree or disagree that computers will replace teachers one day?

Computer has helped teachers and students to a great extent. It has made teaching and learning easy. Students are more interested in using technology for the education purposes. But the role of teacher is inevitable. We are human and we can well with others. Teaching is transforming the students emotionally and intellectually. Learning from teacher is more reliable than computers or robots.  If we try to learn from computers or other gadgets it may not fulfill the purpose of the education and there is not replacement of human. Only a teacher replaces teachers not any technologic device.

Technology and Society

How much has technology improved how we communicate with each other?

Gone are the days when people would wait for the letters and post cards for months and queue for the landline phone. Today we have mobile phone and internet enables us to reach any corner of the world in a minute. Technology has entirely changed the way people communicate today. We can deliver our message to any largest audience by sitting at our homes, attend any call, instruct any employee and teach students. This is all possible just by technology.

Do you agree that there are still many more major technological innovations to be made?

Every year we get to experience new gadgets and devices. Scientists and engineers are busy innovating the technology to help people live better life. There are many innovations which are to come into existence. Some would come in educations so students can learn comfortably and efficiently. Diseases to be cured by latest technology. Space is to more explored and reached where nobody has gone before. There is lot to come in the future.

Could you suggest why some people are deciding to reduce their use of technology?

We have become addicted and dependent on the technology. Cooking food, ironing clothes, making communication, learning, teaching and doing anything you name is dominated by technology. The trend has reverse impact mentally and physically.  People are getting overweight, irritated, impatience, and many other changes making people to use technology less. It is costing us a lot. Even doctors suggest people to use the technology as less as they can.

Cambridge IELTS Book 13: Speaking Test 4: Fully Explained, Explanation, Ideas and Vocabulary.

Cambridge IELTS Book 13: Speaking Test 4: Fully Explanation, Explanation, Ideas and Vocabulary.

Money

When you go shopping, do you prefer to pay for things in cash or Card? Why?

Shopping is essential part of life, we do shopping for many purposes. Almost every day I go to buy something. Making payments depend upon the products and situations, usually I pay in cash, something I use cards as well. I mostly use cards to make online payments or when I get the petrol or diesel in my vehicles.

Do you ever save money to buy things? Why? Why not?

Saving money is one of the most important skills It becomes the priority when it is conducted to buy something. I had a dream to buy a laptop but I did not have enough money. I started doing a part time job and saving from my pocket money. After 3 or 4 months I was able to buy the gadget I dreamt. Getting hard on oneself could be irritating and de-motivating it is better to save least amount so you can live easily and happily I would say that saving is one of the most important skills to develop.

Would you ever take a job which had low pay? Why? Why not?

It is very tricky question. If I talk about myself I am not in the situation to do low salary job. Because I have to shoulder some responsibilities. To do my responsibilities I need to be financially strong so I can feel confident and secure. After achieving my financial goals I may think to do low earning job if it is meaningful and bringing any change in the community. There are people who are working for the social cause. Their remuneration is not so high but satisfied doing it

Would winning a lot of money make a big difference to your life? Why? Why not?
Winning a lot of money certainly brings changes in life it may be positive and negative.  I have seen that people lose their senses after getting a substantial amount of money , even they put their morality on the stake. There are people who invest the money and try to double. They plan and go something which can be financially good for them .

Part 2

Describe an interesting discussion you had as part of your work or studies

You should say:
What the subject of the discussion was
Who you discussed the subject with
What opinions were expressed
And explain why you found the discussion interesting

I am a talkative person and I often start any topic to exchange the ideas and information. I believe that we can learn and improve ourselves by discussing with others.  We learn more while talking because we are full involved into it.

Couple of week before, we had a very health discussion on digital marketing and its benefits for the business with our business partners and associates. Mr. Rajbir is a digital market expert and he trains people to make the best use of it so they earn more.
We did not have much awareness of the uses and advantages of digital marketing we took it very lightly . when the expert showed us the results of last two decades we were shocked. We shared our confusions about digital world and its functions.

We had very limited views about social media networks and digital marketing we believed that it is just to entertain and hook people. But his illustrations and explanations opened up our minds.

My business partners also shared their opinions and asked us Mr. Rajbir to train one of us to use the digital market for our business. We all were fully involved and interested in the conversation and later it became very health talk.

We found it insightful and knowledgeable. The interesting part of the discussion was it was very informative and eye opening to us. My all business partners were full immersed.

Part 3

Discussing problems with others

Example questions

Why is it good to discuss the problems with others?

Discussing the problem is considered leading to the solution. It is very necessary to talk about the problems with family and friends. If we don’t discuss our problems it may be very dangerous, there are many young boys and girls don’t feel comfortable to talk about the issues and confusions they are dealing with. It may sometime lead them to commit suicide. Doctors suggest that we must share our problems with the person we feel at ease. Sharing it with that person can release the tension and depression.

Do you think it is better to talk to friends not with family about problems?

Friends and family both are integral part of our live. I believe that we must share our confusions and issues with friends and family members. It is also true that a majority of people don’t feel as ease talking about the problems with their family members they prefer to discuss with friends. If I talk about myself I mostly share my problems with my friends . the nature of the problem is also the deciding factor. There are some issues and confusions we share with friends some with family members. But talking about your problems with the one you trust is very important.

Is it always a good idea to tell lots of people about a problem?

Sharing your problems with numbers of people, I think, is not good. There are people who listen and mock at you. You become laughing stock. It is better we discuss our problems with the people we trust. When we share the problems with more people the solutions are in numbers and may be more confusing. I have seen people talk about their problems publically just to gain the sympathy. It is not a good think that we should do.

Communication Skills at work

Example Questions

Which communication skills are most important when taking part in meetings with colleagues?

Communication skills are very crucial to succeed personally and professionally. It is one of the top five skills in the world today. People join special training programs to enhance their communication skills. Corporate houses ask their employees to hone their communication skills. Verbal and written communication skills are very important while taking part in a meeting. One must be able to talk and make other understand his talk. Writing should be neat and clean so it could be read.  Purpose of the meeting should be well communicated.

What are the possible effects of poor written communication skills at work?

People are more interested improving their communication skill these days. Because, poor communication skills may lead to misunderstanding. And the misunderstanding may cost dear. If we are unable to present ourselves in better way we may lose our important relationship and create confusions.

What do you think will be the future impact of technology on communication skills at the workplace?

Technology is bringing revolutionary changes at workplace. I believe that the technology is going to help people communicate effectively in the future. People are going to communicate easily.  People will be able to reach maximum people with minimum efforts. Technology is never stagnant. The future communication technology unpredictable but it would benefit people around the world.

We hope that explanation is useful for your IELTS preparation. If you have any question, please comment below.

Helping others is noble job. We live in a world where people don’t have time for their family members, the people who have resources and times for others are admirable. I know many people who are ready in the time of need. I would like to talk about Harsh Chikara who is always ready to help people in need.

He is from my province and very often he is seen working for the betterment of the society. I first came to know about him while browsing my Facebook account. I watched his live video in which he was urging and requesting people to help a cancer patient.

We often see and read about him in news and newspapers about his work for the people. He is always ready and there is not such time when he does not have time and resources to help others. He even spends from his earning. He is dedicated to uplift the society.

Helping people is his passion I don’t think that there is any selfish motive behind this . there are people who are politically motivated and come forward to help. But Harsh is not one of them.

I feel that such people are an asset to the community. They are change maker and inspire the people to work for others. I have seen young boys and girls following his footprints. I wish him happy and healthy life so he keeping service people around him.

School is the place where we face the world and learn to deal with it. When I think of the school I studied in my childhood I feel nostalgic. There are some vivid memories of the time I spend in the school with teachers and friends.

The school is located just one kilometer way from my village. It was a primary school that time. Now the Govt has upgraded it up to secondary. Earlier nursery to 5th grades was taught there.  Today up to 10th standard is educated.

The school, I must was like a second home to me, even on holidays we used to go and play there. There were well built and airy room and highly educated teachers there. Mostly we used sit on the mats and bring back with us after school time is off.

I got admission in first standard and learned Hindi, Math, Social Science and Science in the school. I developed my cricketing skills though it was not the part of school curriculum.

I was a dedicated student and teachers inspired me to study hard, I would always come off with good grades. Teachers taught us professionally and guided us for better future. The foundation the school and teachers laid was worth admiring.

We also took part in social work like taking part in awareness campaign. Working in the garden of the school, keeping the school neat and clean and so on.

Hello friends, Welcome to The English Hunt, We bring you a latest Cue Card appeared in September.

Where it is
When you went there
Why you liked it

Model Answer:-

I recently attended an engagement ceremony of my best friend. It was being organized in Amritsar. After the whole program the photographer requested us to accompany the bride and groom for photo shoot. He took us to nearest park which is famously known as Anand Park. This park I found is one of the best parks I have visited far.

The camera man told us that the people this town come to this park for the photo shoot when they celebrate any special occasion.  This park is well planned and designed. There are high and low places which equate the view of mountain according to camera person. The flowers and herbal plants are the center of attraction.

I was mesmerized to see the beauty of this place. Its decoration makes it most visited place of the town. Fruit and flower bearing trees and plants add to the beauty of this park. The boundaries are well maintained and people don’t seem to damage. The walls are uniquely painted with meaningful messages. There are no unnecessary posters and writings which may tarnish the park.

In short I must say that the park is an amazing place to visit and spend time, it is one of the best places of the town to fulfill the purpose of photo shoots and other activities that people like to do in their special occasion and celebrations.

IELTS Speaking Part: 2 :Describe a skill that you leaned in your school and college time.

Dear IELTS Aspirants, in this post we are going to cover a cue card that has recently appeared.  The students can have some important ideas from this post.

Describe a skill that you leaned in your school and college time.

You should say:-
What it is
How you Learnt it.
Why you learnt it.

And explain how useful this skill is for you.

Model Answer:-

Acquiring skills is very significant to live good and influential life. Schools and colleges are the best platform for young boys and girls to get acquainted with the world and hone exciting skills and go for more.

I learned some very useful skills like other students like speaking English, doing math, drawing and so on. The skill which I learnt and, has been a great source of appreciation is public speaking. Speaking on stage or hosting any event in school seems to be very challenging. Like other students I was afraid of speaking to the group or host any event. But deep down in my heart there was an urge to speak to people. I just had to overcome my fear of being laughed at.

When I was in 11th standard a new teacher joined our school to teach us English. He was a great orator. He wanted his students to be good communicators. He would often deliver speeches on different topics to inspire us about life and education. Since then I got more interested in public speaking with the help of my teacher I started delivering short speeches to my classmates. Later I would tell stories of history and share thoughts on various issues.
After couple of months I was at ease to communicate and host any event. I even hosted the stage on the occasion of Independence day and other sports events.

I took part in speeches competitions and managed to get 1st prize once and 2nd prize twice. This skill made me confident to speak frankly and aware people around important things. people of my town praise me for my oratory. I often give speeches on different topics,
